Ok, so we have made it into the big time! We have an official DC hater! You know you are doing something right when someone takes time out of their day to come by and worry about what you are doing! For months now, every time we put up a video, usually within seconds, someone goes by our YouTube, stops it during the commercial so we don't get the view (which also means they don't even watch it), and dislike it so we no longer have a 100% thumbs up perfect "like" score. I should be irritated about it, but the fact that we have touched someone deeply enough to make them stalk us down means they are scared of us and how awesome we will become. So, go on hater! Hate away! You know you have made it when you get made fun of on Saturday Night Live, when you get a Weird Al song about you, and when you have stalkers, so one down, two to go! Those of you who know me think I had drive before to make our little show work? Guess again, because you haven't seen the best of us yet!

Sometimes you have to put your big girl pants on and make something you don't like to eat. There are times like holidays, birthdays, or even times just to be nice that make you make something as funky as I find boiled eggs. In our house, the main thing that I make to be sweet is egg salad. Yuck. My husband likes it, but I despise everything about it. Boiled eggs, mayo, no thanks. I don't get why this is such a treat to him, but he enjoys it, so I make it for him from time to time. When I am being good about watching my weight, this turns from making him stuff I don't eat because I don't like it to making stuff I can't eat because of the calories. (My husband is 6'7” so he can eat whatever he wants... eye-roll). I do both things for the same reasons: because I like to cook, he likes my cooking, and I love him. I know... awwww... But we all do things for our loved ones that we don't like to do, be it laundry, working extra hours to buy them something special, or making sure they have that funky dish you hate at their holiday table. For a foodie, food is how we show love. From the painstaking care in preparation to the extra time we take in presentation, when we want to show love, that is how we show it. So, for all you people out there who have the love of a foodie, the next time they present you with something delicious, know it is from the heart.

Now comes about that point of the year when we all start dreaming about vacations. Do you think of beach, beer, margaritas, and BBQ? Maybe something more tropical like pina coladas and teriyaki. Maybe you are more of a mountains with beer, trail mix, and things roasted over a fire. You may even have something grander in mind with European pastries or some brats and beer from Germany. No matter what vacation makes you swoon and daydream while at work, one of the first things that will come to mind will be the food. The architecture and scenery has a lot to do with the serenity or excitement of your trip and are the reason you want to go in the first place, but the smells are what bring us back. Even Disney World has those iconic Mickey shaped ice creams on a stick.
In light of all that... I think I will make some schnitzel for dinner...
